Cayuga County and the city of Auburn will host a tax foreclosure auction June 6 and a variety of properties throughout the county will be up for sale.
The auction will take place at 2 p.m. at the Emerson Park Pavilion and will be conducted by Auctions International. Residential and commercial properties will be for sale, as well as a handful of vacant lots.
Within the city, 12 residential and one mixed commercial/residential properties will be for sale. In the rest of the county, there are properties available in Brutus, Cayuga, Cato, Conquest, Genoa, Ira, Ledyard, Montezuma, Moravia, Owasco, Port Byron, Sennett, Springport, Sterling and Victory. Of the 27 parcels for sale in the county, 15 are residential and 10 are vacant lots, while there is one commercial property and one former church available to bid on.
According to a press release from Cayuga County, "proceeds from the auction help the city and county recoup the lost tax revenues not collected on the various parcels that have been foreclosed upon."
