NTLA Member Cuyahoga County will not sell property-tax liens to Woods Cove Holdings

CLEVELAND, Ohio - Cuyahoga County will increase efforts to collect unpaid property taxes after officials were unable to reach an agreement to sell delinquent-tax liens to a private company.

The county has a contract with Woods Cove III LLC, which allows the company to buy tax liens. But the two sides could not agree to terms of the sale after months of negotiations.

The county had planned to sell its 2015 portfolio of 3,500 properties in 33 communities with a total tax delinquency of $25 million, said spokeswoman Mary Louis Madigan. Read More...
